Hair Loss Treatments

Every day 40 to 70 hairs fall and are replaced by new hairs. The hair loss is therefore an absolutely natural phenomenon. The thining out or baldness are a phenomenon connected with the lack of re-growth. The average lifespan of one hair can vary from 5 to 7 years (anagen phase). This phase is followed by a period in which the germinative papilla rests (catagen phase). In this phase, the hair separates from the germinative papilla. During the third phase (telogen), the hair is pushed out by the new hair created by the germinative papilla, which has meanwhile started functioning again by beginning a new anagen phase. When this delicate balance is altered, the problems connected with hair loss begin. Many can be the causes of hair loss: inheritance, environmental, chemical, mechanical factors, illnesses, and stress are some of the causes that can lead to the loss of hair.

Of all treatments that are said to counter hair loss, there are only two products – minoxidil and finasteride – that have been proven to stimulate hair groth and are approved by the FDA for sale in the United States.

Minoxidil is a topical (applied to the surface of the body) medication that is applied to the scalp twice a day, and has been proven to stimulate hair growth. It is sold over the counter (OTC) as a nonprescription drug. Minoxidil is available for both men and women. It is not known to have any serious negative side effects.

Finasteride is an oral prescription medication for men only. Although finasteride is more effective and convenientthan minoxidil, possible side effects include weight gain and loss of sexual function. Women may not use this treatment, and pregnant women or those who might become pregnant are cautioned not to even touch the drug because of the strong potential for birth defects.

In addition to the treatments described above, there are also several surgical options available. Transplants (hair plugs) are probably the mostcommon permanent hair replacement technique. Only licensed surgeons may perform this procedure, and several surgeries are usually necessary to achieve the desired results. The cost of each surgery ranges from $8,000 to over $20,000.

But if those methods are not for you there is another way.

First of all healthy life style, eat a lot of vegetables & fish (fish contains good fats what is necessary for healthy hair growth).
